HOW DID MOZART COMPOSE?

Concert and discussion about W. A. Mozarts early church music and its models

Thursday, 18 May, 7.45 p.m., Mülln Church

Programme: works by J. E. Eberlin, M. Haydn, L. Mozart and W. A. Mozart

Performed by students from various departments

Musicological explanations: Joachim Brügge, Thomas Hochradner

For study purposes W. A. Mozart copied many works, especially sacred music by his contemporaries and predecessors in Salzburg, for instance Johann Ernst Eberlin and Michael Haydn as well as works by his father. However, how does Mozarts early personal style become distinct from that of his models? This question is to be answered by making a comparison of works, for instance the Lauretanische Litanei in B flat major, in the version by Wolfgang and that by Leopold Mozart.
